The KKNK (Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees) takes place in Outdtshoorn from 8-15 April. This ever popular festival boasts a strong Flemish presence this year as the Government of Flanders is supporting a number of events. First up is KRITIEK, a new project launched by Kunste Onbeperk to promote arts journalism. Six writers will participate in a Festival mentorship programme, which includes workshops (6 and 7 April). Flemish art journalist Evelyne Coussens was one of the workshop presenters. 

The Government of Flanders has also provided the support to bring choreographer Benjamin Vandewalle to the KKNK where he will stage his Walking the LIne, a cross between performance, choreography and installations. Volunteers will engage in the performance to create a series of living images that transform open spaces. Come to watch (or take part in) this innovative experience on 8 April at 17.30, 9 April at 10.00 & 17.30 and 10 April at 10.00. 

Ma tête est mon village (My head is my village) showcases another Flemish choreographer, Jan Wallyn. An empty canvas is spread on the ground and a colourful body moves over it like a paintbrush. Jan Wallyn performs on 12 April at 17.30, 13 April at 10.00 & 17.30 and 14 April at 10.00.
