The Department of Science and Technology will host the third Science Forum South Africa from 7-8 December at the CSIR Convention Center in Pretoria. The General Representation of the Government of Flanders will have an exhibition space to highlight ground-breaking projects resulting from cooperation between Flemish and South African universities, and which are relevant to the Science Forum's overarching theme to "ignite conversations about science".
With support from the Government of Flanders, Professor Stef Slembrouck from the Dept. of LInguistics at Ghent University, will participate in a session on "International Academic Exchanges: Colloboration Opportunities" taking place on 7 December from 15.30-17.00 at room NRF1 of the CSIR ICC. This session, co-organised with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Dutch Organisation for Internationalisation in Education (NUFFIC), will look at possibilities for international academic exchanges between South Africa and Flanders (Belgium), Germany and the Netherlands. Prof. Slembrouck has been working for some time on Institutional University Cooperation and Linguistic Citizenship in collaboration with the University of the Western Cape. Other panellists include Prof. Kingsley Ayisi (University of Limpopo), Mr. Mervin Bakker (Nuffic-Neso), Dr. Anja Hallacker (DAAD), Prof. Stef Slembrouck (Ghent University). The moderator will be Dr. Priscilla Mensah (NRF).
