From 3 to 12 March 2017, the annual Woordfees arts festival takes place at the University of Stellenbosch. This year's slogan is "Wys!".

A number of Flemish artists and writers will be present at the festival, with support of the Government of Flanders.

On 4 March, 8:30 at the Bibsaal, there is a Vertaalslypskool with Daniel Hugo, who discusses the translation of Flemish acclaimed writer Stefan Hertman's work.

On 4 March, 17:00 at the Bibsaal, Stefan Hertmans reads from his masterpiece "Oorlog en Terpentijn" and has a conversation about the book with its Afrikaans translator, Daniel Hugo.

On 8 March, 10:30 at the Bibsaal, Stefan Hertmans and Peter Verhelst read from their work in "Die Lae LAnde in word en klank".

On 8 March, 15:30 at the Bloekomhoek, Peter Verhelst discuisses his theatre play "Hotel Maria", that was first performed in Ghent in 2015. The play itself is performed on 4, 7, 9 and 10 March at 20:30 at the Hoerskool Cloetesville.
