World Choir Games in Tshwane

Event date: 7/5/2018 - 7/12/2018 Export event

The World Choir Games take place in Pretoria from 4 to 14 July. The 'Voices of the World' gather to sing in the world's largest choir celebration. Bearing songs and a dazzling display of cultural diversity, each of the choirs offer their vocal best in this keenly fought contest. But besides competition, the World Choir Games are all about harmony, respect, unity and most of all global friendship.

Two choirs from Flanders will be participating in the World Choir Games. Make sure not to miss Show Choir Rise Up from Neerpelt and Youth Choir Waelrant from Borgerhout.

Show Choir Rise Up is the first of two Flemish choirs competing in the World Choir Games taking place in Pretoria. This girls choir was founded in 2006 and hails from Neerpelt, Belgium.

Catch one or all of their performances on the following dates:
July 5: Competition Category O24 "Show Choirs/Scenic Pop" at the State Theatre Opera House at 19:30.
July 6: Competition Category O11 "Female Choirs" at the Musaion, University of Pretora at 15.30.

Flemish Youth Choir Waelrant takes part in the second week of the 2018 World Choir Games. They compete in the Mixed Youth Choirs Category on Wednesday 11 July in the Desmond Abernethy Hall, Pretoria Boys High, at 19.30.
If you miss that performance, you can still catch them competing in the Musica Sacra a capella Category at St Albans Cathedral on 12 July at 10.30, or at the Celebration Concert taking place at 19.00 that day at the NG Universiteitsoord in Duxbury Road.
