On 23 February, the Government of Flanders granted 900,000 euros to the Flanders – ILO Trust Fund. This contribution enables funding for new projects of the International Labor Organisation in the period 2018-2019. The Flanders-ILO Trust Fund, created in 2001, receives Flemish funds on a biennial basis. The previous years, Flanders granted the same amount.

Recently, the annual cooperation review meeting was held in Brussels. Staff members of ILO and the Flanders Department of Foreign Affairs discussed the ongoing cooperation and new project proposals. One of these project proposals is a project on decent work in the tea plantations in Malawi.

Flanders cooperates with ILO since 1991. This specialized agency of the United Nations aims to promote rights at work, encourages decent employment opportunities, enhances social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues. The cooperation between ILO and Flanders has its roots in shared values of social dialogue and decent work.
