The Government of Flanders approved a grant of 3 million Euro to the Flexible Multi-Partner Mechanism for Accelerated Impact Fund (FMM) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The fund allows the FAO to quickly and flexibly deploy means for innovative ideas and pilot projects in countries where the FAO is active and thereby create a catalyst effect. In addition to Flanders, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Italy finance the fund.

The FAO identifies 6 priority programs for the FMM fund. Flanders opts for the “Climate change - climate-smart farming methods” program. It is also determined that Flemish funds are only used in Southern Africa, in line with the thematic and geographical focus of the Flemish development cooperation.
